Lindisfarne Gospels are Britain’s most valued treasures. It was written fo God and St Cuthbert by Eadfrith, Bishop of Lindisfarne. (698-721) In other words it is an illuminated Latin manuscript of the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, produced in Lindisfarne in Northumbria in the late seventh century or early eighth century. The inside of the Gospel includes complex pattern, like animals and birds for the decoration and also beautiful calligraphy. England produced it like it is a new form of literature and art and a new symbol of faith.
